Can you tell us a little more about you and your styling background?
I’m originally from England where I trained as a hairdresser (nearly 40 years ago), worked on cruise ships doing hair and travelled the world for 6 years and met my Australian husband. Once married, we lived in Miami,Florida for 17 years where I owned a busy salon. We decided to move back to Sydney, Australia 13 years ago to be closer to family and became an hair Educator for 7 years at a private hair college. I currently have my own studio Hair By Jax in Bondi, as well as doing my regular clients I also do photoshoots and run various workshops.
What is the one product/tool you can not live without?
Probably my Cloud nine wide straightening iron as I can produce waves or achieve sleek, smooth hair. Hairspray to manipulate and hold the hairstyle.
Who/Where do you find inspiration from?
I’m always attending workshops and hair shows to stay current and be inspired. Instagram has been a huge gamechanger (I’m obsessed!) Beyondtheponytail, Modern salon, American salon, Olaplex are a few of my favorite accounts to follow for inspiration.
What styling trends are you loving right now?
I love the more relaxed, romantic soft and natural styles.
What are some of your favorite braids/looks to create?
Braids have become so popular and easy to create which complement the hair colour- a fishtail is my favorite as it’s so detailed.
Best advice you have been given regarding your career?
Do what you love and the money will come.
What are some keys tips you can give on how to get your work noticed on Instagram?
Firstly, being proud of the work you did and then taking a photo with good background and the best angle and then tag bigger accounts that hopefully think it’s as awesome as you do!!!!!

Favorite hobby outside of work ?
