Can you tell us a little more about you and your styling background?
I have been a stylist now for 11 years. I am originally from Michigan, but have been living in Nashville for 7 years now. I knew I wanted to be a hairstylist in the first grade! I loved braiding all my friends’ hair, and as I grew up I did their hair for the school dances. Right after graduating high school, I started beauty school- and I almost dropped out because they didn’t teach about updos! I decided to stick with it, and I’m glad I did! I do cut and color as well, but styling is my favorite!
What bridal trends are you loving right now?
I’m loving sleek buns and pony’s, and super messy buns! They’re my favorite!
What new trends can we expect to see this season?
I think we are going to see a lot more glossy, sleek looks
How do you stay inspired?
I stay inspired by following my favorite artists on Instagram, and looking through magazines!
What advice would you give to a bridal hairstylist just getting started?
I would tell them to never let someone tell you you can’t do something. You are more than capable of doing anything you want in this career! Don’t let people get in the way of who you want to become as a stylist. The sky’s the limit!
Best advice to a bride regarding her hairstyle?
I always tell my brides to base their style around not only what will look great with her dress, but will make her feel the best on her big day, and it’s ok to have a few trials to figure that out! It’s also great to have her schedule her trial the same day as her dress fitting to see everything together before the big day! Lastly, these photos last a lifetime, so I just like to remind them that although they might like a super trendy style now, they might not 5 years down the road. If you want to look back and love how you look years down the road, pick something that is timeless! If that doesn’t matter to you- then pick that fun hairstyle you love and rock it!
What is the one product/tool you can not live without?
My Sam villa texture iron!
Best advice you have ever been given in the hair industry?
Love what you do, and you’ll never feel like it’s your job.
What do you love to do outside of work?
I love going to concerts, traveling, swimming, hiking and playing with my puppy June!
Guilty pleasures?
A good book, wine, and chocolate truffles!
