Can you tell us a little more about you and your styling background?
Hairstyling as a hobby has always been an interest since high school. I was the girl who curled the hair for all the school events, so creating was always an enjoyment. It wasn’t until my daughter was a flower girl at the age of 2, that I was asked to do hair for everyone in exchange to be flown out for the wedding, so naturally I rose to the challenge and found a newfound passion and just continually asked myself, how can I do this everyday, and the rest is history!
What bridal trends are you loving right now?
I really love the romantic waves this past year and also loving elegant textured updos that seem simple but so not! (IFYKYK)
What new trends can we expect to see this season?
I think classy half up half downs are going to be the it and go to! Not just the regular half up, but much more refined and elegant with neater texture and a fullness to it! Gotta stand out from the bridal party of course!
How do you stay inspired?
Honestly, seeing the community of artists around me thriving and entrusting me with all the referrals has been such a huge inspiration. It’s the reason I left my day job and I’m so excited to really see my potential and help others like myself.
What advice would you give to a bridal hairstylist just getting started?
Practice, practice, practice 🙂 Get a nice doll head, don’t skimp, and find anyone with a head of hair and just go for it. Diving in, literally, is the best way to do it
Best advice to a bride regarding her hairstyle?
Not every hair texture can be transformed to your desired hairstyle unless you’re willing to pay for someone with lots of experience with all hair types and you can guarantee to purchase extensions if needed. Ask yourself, “What’s more important, your budget, or achieving the desired vision you want”. There’s no right or wrong 🙂 Once you know your priorities, then you can decide the direction to go in and of course start looking ASAP.
What is the one product/tool you can not live without?
OMG just one!! Ok, as far as hot tools go, my flat iron. If I had to pick a second, my micro crimper. lol. For products, definitely hair volume powder. Current fave is KYK magic powder (it’s the biggest bottle of grams of powder in the world, meaning more poofs for your buck!)
Best advice you have ever been given in the hair industry?
From the lovely Angela Cattaneo, DREAM BIG, like for reals, and break the ceiling because you can achieve anything you put yourself into!
What do you love to do outside of work?
I love the gym, I love eating lol, and I’m secretly obsessed with relationship stuff and talking about self help!
Guilty pleasures?
NACHOS, WENDY WILLIAMS, and Coke Zero !
