Hollie Thomas

Can you tell us a little more about you and your styling background?
I grew up in a small town in Maine. In high school, I started doing hair for my friends and family. I did all my friends’ hair and makeup for the prom and many other social occasions.
I graduated high school early, at 17. I was the youngest enrolled at my beauty school.
Later when I moved to Atlanta, I was strongly influenced by the style of the South. I opened my first salon at 27, and now own HT Salon in Alpharetta, GA. We specialize in bridal styling makeup, color and design.
As a stylist today I am more confident in my craft. With more confidence, I love what I do more than ever! I love inspiring new talent in business and continuing my education to be the best I can be.
What bridal trends are you loving right now?
Glam waves, classic updos. Hairstyling inspired by Old Hollywood.
What new trends can we expect to see this season?
“New” is always a reinvention of styles remixed. Glam waves, loosely swept back low buns. Braids are still going strong. Incorporated in half up looks or updos. I love a glam ponytail with soft waves.
How do you stay inspired?
I love fashion design, and Vogue magazines. Also, in the salon I am inspired by the style of my clients. The most inspiring is a woman that knows her personal style and rocks it!
What advice would you give to a bridal hairstylist just getting started?
Structure a plan of business with contracts, pricing, and procedures. Our creative nature tends to avoid the protections a business needs.
Best advice to a bride regarding her hairstyle?
Her goal is to be the prettiest version of herself. Do not try to be someone she is not.
What is the one product/tool you can not live without?
Ooohhh just one?!? My Airwrap! A close second is dry shampoo.
Best advice you have ever been given in the hair industry?
Slow and steady wins the race. That pretty much sums up my values as a hairstylist. Be consistent, kind, and be yourself. There is no shortcut to success!
What do you love to do outside of work?
I recharge at home with my family. Taking long walks outside while listening to music.
Guilty pleasures?
Watching reality tv, and Interior design.
